In this post, we provide a collection of schematic diagrams of guitar synthesizers that might be useful for you. A guitar synthesizer will be anybody of several musical instrument devices that enable a guitarist to gain access to synthesizer capabilities.

What is Synthesizer

A synthesizer or synthesizer (generally abbreviated to synth) can be an electronic drum that creates audio signals which may be converted to appear. Synthesizers may imitate conventional musical instruments such as for example piano, flute, vocals, or organic sounds such as for example sea waves; or generate book electronic timbres. They are generally used a musical key pad, but they could be controlled with a variety of additional devices, including tunes sequencers, device controllers, fingerboards, electric guitar synthesizers, blowing wind controllers, and electric drums. Synthesizers without built-in controllers tend to be called audio modules, and so are operated via USB, MIDI or Comprehensive resume/gate utilizing a controller device, ordinarily a MIDI key pad or some other controller.

Synthesizers use several solutions to generate electronic indicators (tones). Being among the most preferred waveform synthesis tactics are usually subtractive synthesis, additive synthesis, wavetable synthesis, occurrence modulation synthesis, stage distortion synthesis, bodily modeling synthesis and sample-based synthesis.

Synthesizers were primary found in pop tunes in the 1960s. In the overdue 1970s, synths have been used in intensifying rock and roll, pop and disco. Within the 1980s, the innovation of the comparatively affordable Yamaha DX7 synth built digital synthesizers accessible. 1980s pop and dancing music often produced heavy usage of synthesizers. Inside the 2010s, synthesizers are employed in many styles, such as for example pop, hiphop, metal, stone and dance. Modern-day classical audio composers from 20th and 21st centuries write compositions for synthesizer.

Here is the circuit diagram and PCB design for relatively low cost DIY bass guitar preamp pedal uses FET K117 or equivalent. There is a bit difficult to build this kind circuit project, it’s require a good knowledge in electronics. This preamp has several features for the bass guitar instrument such as attenuator, low cut, mid control and Hi boost. The circuit has some control: volume level, high frequency, high-mid frequency, low-mid frequency, bass frequency. Boost level and master level control also included in this circuit design.

Power supply circuit for bass guitar preamp also included in the PCB design. Simply connect the power supply section to the output of transformer with the secondary 15 + 15 V / 500 mA.

This is the simple spring reverb guitar effect circuit that can be built low cost and just requires a minimal amount of electronic parts and of course need minimum space for the circuit it self. The circuit also easy to built, it need 9V DC supply to work.

The operational amplifier (op-amp) is a quad type by using RC4136N IC (datasheet here), the pinout for a 4136 is shown on above diagram, but others may be substituted. The bypass caps C1 and C2 can be from 10 to 100 uf. The resistor marked with a * may need to be lessened if you experience distortion in your reverb, lower this to achive maximum signal with no distortion. Many spring reverb units may be used with this circuit, the original article suggested an accutronics model. Many reverb units also use RCA style jacks for in”s and out”s, be prepared for this. The cancel switch will shut off the reverb effect without any clicks or pops. All resistors are 1/4 or 1/2 watt, 5% tolerance, and all caps are rated at 10 or more volts.

This tube sound fuzz mods circuit is taken from the book of Electronic Projects for Musicians by Craig Andertons. This circuit applies a CD4049 Hex inverter, which consists of six inverting units. Only two are being used in this circuit, so the others are disabled by connecting their inputs to the positive voltage source and leaving the output disconnected. Components with a * are suggested values, substitutions can be made freely within 30%.

This layout also uses various pins than the original schematic diagram for aesthetic purposes, the sound isn’t influenced by these modifications. Layout populated as “Tube sound fuzz”, replace components with “Llama” components if implementing those mods.

Here the circuit diagram of octave fuzz guitar effect pedal. This guitar effect unit is great sounding octave fuzz, with an optional mode of just fuzz. The fuzz is really a absolutely rectified signal and is fairly chewy. For some the Fuzz alone could possibly not be loud enough, this could be fixed by raising the value of the 820 ohm resistor and lowering the 39k one. Or one could just replace both having a regular volume potensiometer for a extra typical approach. The “struzz” will be the fuzz with an octave greater signal mixed in. Great for signal notes and leads.

The Univibe is actually a footpedal-operated phaser or phase shifter for generating chorus and vibrato simulations for electric organ or guitar. It was introduced in the 1960s by Shin-ei, and was intended to emulate the “Doppler sound” of a Leslie speaker. Although not a really successful Leslie-simulator, the Univibe has turn out to be an effect in its own right, putting its stamp on tracks like Robin Trower’s “Bridge of Sighs”, Jimi Hendrix’s “Machine Gun” and Pink Floyd’s “Breathe”. The effect, though generally associated with chorus, is actually produced through a staggered series of phasing filters, unlike the commonly aligned filters of a regular phasing effect. Not like most other phaser pedals, this is achieved without having the use of op-amps.

This is the circuit diagram of Univox Super-Fuzz Pedal. This pedal is actually a 69-to-early 70″s design that consists of two special capabilities. They are the octave generation effect from the differential-pair-with-collectors -tied-together along with the option of just a clipping amplifier or a 1kHz notch for different sounds.

The odd-diffamp is basically a full wave rectifier as applied in this circuit. The clipping is all completed using the pair of back-to-back diodes just before the normal/notch filter section. These were basically germanium, even though silicon will work. You are able to use LED”s here for a various sound, but you will need lots of gain within the input to obtain adequate signal to them to break them over.

This is the circuit diagram of Vox Tone Bender Pedal. The circuit is very similar to Fuzz Face pedal. The Vox ToneBender will have a lot more treble response than the Fuzz Face…maybe to help brighten up those characteristically “dark” sounding British amps some. Using a Vox ToneBender with a Fender Twin, or any other Fender amp, would be nearly ear-piercing with all the treble that’d be blasting through. Another change that will remove more bass is the bypass capacitor on the wiper of the “attack” pot (1k pot). Using a 15uF instead of a 25uF will reduce bass and it will also back off the fuzz some, too. The 50K “level” pot will also pass more treble compared to the 500K pots used in the Fuzz Face.

Another thing makes a noticeable difference is the 1K resistor between the collector resistors of the two transistors. In the Fuzz Face this resistor is 470 ohms in the Germanium versions and 330 ohms in the Silicon versions. Using a 1K resistor will give more output from the circuit, which really helps.

Circuit Notes:

Transistor Q1 is a SFT 363

Transistor Q2 is a SFT 337

The 2n3906 may be used as a replacement for Q1 and Q2, however originals were probably germanium.
